Chief L. Gene Corder was an outspoken supporter of the U.S. Border Patrol since his retirement in 1990, he served as Yuma Sector’s Chief Patrol Agent from May 1987 to August 1990. CPA Corder entered on duty with the U.S. Border Patrol in June 1969, with his first duty station being El Paso, Texas. After three years as chief at Yuma Sector, he retired with 21 years exemplary service. Chief Corder passed away July 28, 2015, at a Yuma area rest home following a lengthy illness. A Celebration of Life will be held at Yuma Mortuary, 775 South 5th Avenue, beginning at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 4, 2015. I ask that you keep Chief Corder’s wife, Billie, his two children, four grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren in your thoughts and prayers as they deal with their loss.
