Veta Winnifred (Nicholas) Newkirk

Veta Winnifred Newkirk, 82, of Yuma, AZ, was called home by her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on March 16, 2024. 

She was a career RN who worked and retired in beautiful Yuma. Veta graduated from Edinburgh Southern Hospitals School of Nursing in Scotland. She is survived by her son Alan Nicholas, daughter Yolanda Hill, and sisters Jean Whyte, Rita Nicholas, Myrtle Nicholas—Whyte, and Beverly Nicholas. Her parents, Mrs.James and Ciecelyn Nicholas, preceded her in death.
Veta found joy in exploring new places through her travels, challenging her mind with crossword puzzles, and nurturing her soul with music and books. Her love for nature was evident in her green thumb and the care she showered on her plants.

 
A memorial service will be held on Monday, April 29th, from 1:30 PM to 2:30 PM at the Yuma Mortuary and Funeral Home, 775 S 5th Ave, Yuma, AZ 85364.
