Joellen Carole (Harris) Bedell

Joellen “Jodi” Carole Bedell passed away peacefully surrounded by family at River Valley Estates in Yuma, Arizona, on July 28, 2019, after a long battle with multiple illnesses. She was 72.

Jodi was born the only child of Sheriff and Mrs. Jess Harris in Elko, Nevada on September 28, 1946. She was a long-time RN and worked her entire career as a cardiac nurse for Yuma Regional Medical Center, from 1978 until she became disabled in 2000; many of those years serving as charge cardiac nurse on their large telemetry floor. 

The devoted and loving mother of daughter, Deborah Walsh (Brian) of Las Vegas, Nevada, and son, Christopher Bedell (Tina) of Yuma, Arizona, Jodi handled all of her affairs with dignity, composure, and grace and she never complained about the pain she was in. She was the strongest, most compassionate, and hard working example to her children and beloved grandchildren. 

She dearly loved animals and was known for often bringing home strays. She loved taking care of people, as well, and, in retirement, she volunteered for hospice in order to continue to care for those in need.

She is preceded in death by her adored father, Sheriff Jess Harris, her mother, Florence Harris and is survived by her two children, Debi and Chris, and her grandchildren, Darian, Christopher Jr., and Victoria, and by her step grandchildren, Danielle Carpenter (Scott) of Jackson, Wyoming and Cameron Walsh, of Fargo, North Dakota, as well as her great-granddaughter, Brianna.

Jodi will forever be greatly missed and never forgotten. She lives on in the hearts of her family and the many people whose lives she touched. A Celebration of Jodi’s Life is scheduled for 1:00 on Thursday, August 29, 2019, at the Chapel at Yuma Mortuary. In lieu of flowers,  please donate to your local Animal Shelter or to the ASPCA.
