Andy “Barry” Lindsey
January 5, 1960 - May 9, 2026
Barry, age 66, passed away peacefully, with his Mom by his side, on May 9, 2026, in Yuma, AZ.
Barry was born on January 5, 1960, in Lubbock, Texas, to Jerry and Sondra Lindsey. In 1966, his family moved to the Wellton-Mohawk Farming Community near Yuma, Az.
Barry attended Antelope Union High School, MCC (Associates Degree), NAU, Oklahoma Baptist University, and McMurry Univeristy. Throughout his academic journey, Barry had a deep passion for basketball, and proudly played at each institution he attended. Barry loved basketball, whether playing, officiating or coaching. Through his time on the court, he formed lifelong friendships and memories.
Following his college years, Barry was in the construction and trucking industry. Then, he answered the call to serve, by joining the United States Army. He proudly served his country during Operation Desert Storm.
Barry is survived by Sondra Lindsey (mother); Jackie Parker (wife); son, Matt Lindsey; daughter, Ashley (John) Gilvin; grandchildren, Arthur and Charlene Gilvin, sister Pam (Ron) Peña; nephews; Joshua and Jason Peña; and sister, Lisa Lindsey. He has numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Barry is preceded in death by his Dad, Jerry Lindsey, former wife, Penny Lindsey, uncles; Kenneth Lindsey, L.W. Lindsey, Larry Lindsey, Charles Baucum; aunt Joyce Brown, cousin, Sam Lindsey.
Our family would like to thank Hospice Compassus for their compassionate care and kindness to Barry, and our our entire family.
Barry’s Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00pm on Friday, May 29th at Morningside Baptist Church, 2900 S. 8th Ave, Yuma AZ, 85364.
In honor of Barry’s love for animals, the family asks, that in lieu of flowers, those who are so inclined, may make donations to the Yuma Humane Society.
