Bernadine Cachora, 66, was called to heaven on February 12th, 2025 on the Fort Yuma Indian Reservation. Bernadine proceeded into the spiritual world surrounded by all six of her daughters, family, and loved ones. Bernadine was born on April 27th, 1958 in Yuma, AZ. Bernadine, a proud Quechan Tribal Member, is also part Mescalero Chiricahua Apache from Mescalero, New Mexico. Bernadine’s parents are the late Tedley Cachora (Quechan Indian Tribe) and the late Shirley Fatty (Mescalero Apache Tribe). Bernadine was raised in Los Angeles, CA and later moved to the Fort Yuma Indian Reservation where she settled and raised all six of her daughters.
Bernadine started working for the Quechan Indian Tribe as a Community Health Representative when she became an adult. Bernadine was a dedicated and hardworking person. She enjoyed working, and taking care of the community members, and raising health awareness. Bernadine dedicated 42 years of her life to working for the CHR program. Bernadine stayed late evenings and worked weekends to full fill the community health needs. Bernadine loved her job and was proud of her employment longevity. Bernadine retired in year 2021.
As side from her employment, Bernadine loved spending time with her family. Bernadine always planned special occasions and events for all holidays with her family. Bernadine’s favorite holidays were Halloween, Christmas, and Easter.
Bernadine’s hobbies were collecting Halloween decorations and crafts, watching horror movies, biblical movies, local news, and action movies, doing beadwork, collecting comic books, and going to the casinos. Bernadine had an interest of going to school for horror make up and horror costumes in Hollywood, CA. Bernadine spent her extra time in traveling through California to attend Haunted mazes, Haunted events, and Halloween stores. She also spent her extra time in traveling to Mescalero, New Mexico to visit her sister, brother, cousins, aunts and uncles. Bernadine had a full-filing life and was proud of all six of her daughters.
Bernadine leaves behind her daughters Angela Cachora, Starla Cachora, Amber Cachora, Brandy Cachora, Derricka Cachora, and Tory Cachora, Sisters; Barbara A. Cachora, Sharlene Glossop. Brother; Wade Torres. Aunt; Wilma Solis. Cousins: Terry Loera, Delcie Cachora, Kimberly Bell and Rhodesia Bell. Nieces; Chynna Cachora, Natalia Cachora, Louise Glossop, Deana Cachora,
Alexis Cachora ,Tiffany Loera, and Katrina Manqueros. Nephews; Kyle Cachora, Ryan Cachora, Derrick Jose, Brendan Jose, Jacob Glossop, and Richard Manqueros. Grand Daughters; Sabrina Espino, Paris Espino, Hayden Espino, Alexandria Jackson, Mariana Cachora, Benecia Cachora, Diamond Cachora, Adeline Cachora, May Cachora, and Sharon Cachora. Grand Sons; Alexander Cachora, Max Cachora, and James Espino, Jr. Great Grandson; Mosaes Comet, Jr.
Bernadine was preceded in death by her Parents, Tedley Cachora and Shirley Fatty. Paternal Grandparents: Alexander and Mary Papal Cachora and May Yuma. Maternal Grandparents: Eustace and Nora Fatty. Sister: Sharon Cachora. Brother In Law: Vernon J. Jose. Uncles: Oscar Cachora, Wayne Cachora, Harland Cachora. Aunts: Bernita Gunn, Della Padilla, Lavina Gallerito, Pauline Murphy, Sophie Sago, Flora Taylor. Great Uncles: Pete Cachora, Ignatius Cachora. Cousin: Connie Manqueros. Nephews: Joseph Cachora and Adam Cachora. Close Friend: Delores Brown.
Services will be held at Yuma Mortuary on February 21st, 2025. A public viewing at 2:00pm-4:30pm, Quechan Tribal Rites at the Quechan Big House at 5pm. Cremation at 5am February 22nd, 2025.
