Bertha O. Mendoza, lovingly called Doña Bertha died on Thursday July 18, 2021 peacefully surrounded by her loving family. Doña Bertha was born on Christmas Day in 1938 in San Jose Del Cabo, Baja California, Mexico.
She worked the local citrus packing houses and after many years she retired from Sunkist Growers to stay home. Doña Bertha liked staying home and having her family come to visit. Doña Bertha was an awesome, badass mother, sister, and grandma for all. Her chingona ways made sure all family members were taken care of and had a place to stay for the night, a few days or more if needed. Everyone that came to visit had to eat something before they left.
She liked to have tamaladas during Christmas holidays with some pozole and menudo for all that came to the house. For dessert she made champurrado and buñuelos to sweeten the day. And the big fat juicy turkeys she cooked on Thanksgiving Days, ay caramba!
In her younger days she liked to visit family in San Felipe, BC Mx and spend time and swim at the local beaches. She was a dedicated hard working lady and was proud that she and her husband raised a family without government assistance.
Doña Bertha O. Mendoza is survived by her daughters: María Guadalupe Mendoza, Sandra Mendoza (Manuel Rodriguez), Bertha (Marvin) Avila, and Cindy Gonzalez; her sons Raul (Sheila) Mendoza and Benny (Socorro) Salvatierra. And by many grand-children and several great-grand children too.
She is preceded in death by her parents, ex-husband Cayetano, sons Jose Francisco and Jorge (George) and grandson Bruce Lee Mendoza.
