Danny Farar Obituary

Danny Farar, 78, passed away peacefully on July 22, 2025, in Phoenix, Arizona, surrounded by his family.

Born November 5, 1946, in Yuma, Arizona, Danny was the son of Clyde Jackson (“Jack”) and Mary Alice (“Alice”) Farar. He was raised in Tacna, AZ, and graduated from Antelope High School. He went on to earn a bachelor’s degree from the University of Arizona and a master’s degree from Brigham Young University.

A lifelong educator, Danny dedicated his career to public education. He taught Spanish and History at the high school level, served as Vice Principal at Parker and Kofa High Schools, and later as Principal of Kofa High School. He concluded his career as Associate Superintendent for the Yuma Union High School District. At the time of his passing, he was serving on the Crane School District Governing Board. In retirement, Danny continued to serve his community by working at the Yuma Scout Shop and in the Mesa Arizona and San Diego Temples of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Danny married Cheryl Haws on February 8, 1969. Together they raised eight children. He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings Milton and Bill, and his son Damond. He is survived by his wife Cheryl; children Dennis, Darren, Derryl, Dallin, Dean, Doran, and Cassie and their spouses; 37 grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Barbara.

Danny was a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served faithfully as Bishop of the Yuma 1st Ward. He was active in the Optimist Club of Yuma and a proud supporter and leader in the Boy Scouts of America, helping many young men earn the rank of Eagle Scout.

An avid outdoorsman and hobbyist, Danny enjoyed hunting, fishing, reloading ammunition, taking trips to Mexico, playing games, and spending time with his family. He will be remembered for his faith, service, sense of humor, and deep love for his family and community.

A viewing will be held at Yuma Mortuary on Friday, August 1, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. A second viewing will take place on Saturday, August 2, from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 4300 W 16th Street, with funeral services to follow at 10:00 a.m. Interment will take place at Desert Lawn Memorial Park.
