FILEMON O. TELLEZ
January 5, 1933 - March 16, 2024
Filemon “Phil” Tellez passed away at his home on March 16, 2024
surrounded by his loving family. He was born on January 5, 1933 to Leon
and Virginia Tellez in Las Cruces, New Mexico and was the youngest of 9
children.
Phil is survived by his beloved wife, Mary of 69 years, his sons Filemon Jr.
(Tamra), Robert “Bob” (Teesha), his daughters, Elizabeth (Gilbert) Duran,
Debra (Julian) Gonzales, Annette (Ray) Orta, and Grand-daughter Toni
(Tellez) Peters, 16 grandchildren, 20 grand-children and 5 great great
grand-children along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Phil enlisted in the United States Army in 1953 and was stationed at Fort
Bliss in Texas. After leaving the Army, he worked at White Sands Missile
Range in Las Cruces, New Mexico for 10 years, Vandenberg Air Force Base
in Lompoc, California for 2 years and ended his Civil Service Career as a
High-Speed Photographer at Yuma Proving Ground, Yuma, AZ for 23 years.
After retiring from Civil Service, Phil continued working within his own
businesses: Phil’s Photo and ADL Refrigeration until his 80th Birthday.
Services scheduled for April 2, 2024: Viewing at St. Francis Church from
10:00 – 10:30 a.m. followed by a Rosary from 10:30 to 11:00 a.m. Mass will
also be held at St. Francis Church at 11:00 a.m. with burial following at
12:00 p.m. at Desert Lawn. Celebration of Life will be at the Elks Lodge
from 1:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
