John Edward Lamas passed away suddenly on July 20, 2025 in Yuma, AZ. He is survived by his four daughters, Melissa Lamas and Michelle Lamas of Oxnard, CA and Maggie (called Margo by her Dad) Lamas and Liz Arvizu of Somerton, AZ. He was a beloved Grandfather to Marissa Guerrero, Amaya Dzul, Jacob Torres, Jiselle Torres, Aleyah Rocha, Jay Lamas, Adriel Orozco, Dylam Arvizu and Nany Arvizu. He is also survived by his siblings, Wayne Lamas (Mary) and Theresa Hart (Tony) of Oxnard, CA, Roberta Becker (Ron) of Oak View, CA, Rebecca Shelley (Jeff) of Buffalo, WY and brother-in-law Mitch Hollis of Oxnard, CA.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph (Joe) and Margaret (Peggy) Lamas, his sister Mary Hollis and brother-in-law Daron Hargadine.
John was born September 7, 1961 in Oxnard, CA and lived there until he moved to Yuma, Arizona in 1988. He worked as a sewing machine mechanic until he retired to take care of his ailing parents. John will be remembered for his kind soul, willingness to help friends and family, his love of the Lakers and Seattle Seahawks.
Services will be held on Monday, July 28, 2025 at Yuma Mortuary and Crematory 775 S. 5th Ave. in Yuma, AZ. Public viewing begins at 11:00 am with a Rosary to follow at 12:00. A Celebration of Life will be held later in his hometown of Oxnard, CA.
