Lorey Cachora, Jr.

Lorey Cachora Jr, 79, of Winterhaven Ca., passed away Saturday May 3, 2025. Lorey
was born November 27, 1945 on the Fort Yuma Indian Reservation. He received his
bachelor’s degree in administrative business management. Enlisting in the Arizona
Army National Guard in 1964; during this time he mastered in honor guard and silent
drill team which held honors for three years. He did a three-year tour of duty in Europe,
expeditionary force to Isreal and Vietnam as military advisor, a green Beret, Military
Academy Instructor, unit instructor, GED Teacher, promoted to staff sergeant E-6. He
received several awards which included: soldier of the year, silver-star, three bronze
star medal with valor, Isreal bronze medal, two purple hearts, three army commendation
medals with valor, and air medal. Lorey was honorably discharged in 1971.
After the military he worked in Archaeology, historian, became a stanch defender of the
rights of the Quechan Indian Nation . He continued sharing his knowledge of the
Kwatsan culture by starting the group "Preservation of Kwatsan Way", worked with
Xanapuux group.
He is survived by his wife Linda Cachora, Daughters; Lala Cachora, Crystal (Martin)
Cachora, Sons ; Petey, Jason (Virgina) White, and Noah Cachora. Grandchildren;
Zayana (Jeremy), Lori (Louie), Kim (Chris), Melissa, Jason Jr (Maria), Richard, Daniel
(Crystal), Thomas, Matthew (Brenda), Gabriel (Brenda), Garrison, Frank, Linda, and
Ginger, 14 great grandchildren, Tribal Brothers; Steve Banegas, Willie White, Daniel
Murphy, Chris Illingsworth, Zion White.
He is proceeded in death by his parents Lorey Sr, and Edna Cachora, Brothers
Anothony Cachora, Sister Gloria Cachora. Uncle Frankie Escalanti, Daughter Lisa Vest,
and Grandson Isaac Figueroa.
Pallbearers are Noah Cachora, Jason White Jr, Petey white, Jason White, Louie
Throssell, and Steve Banegas.
Honorary Pallbearers are Willie White, Daniel Murphy, Chis Illingsworth, Zion White,
Manford Scott, Chirs Delcid, Billy DeGrande, Bobby Estupinan, Frank Fergoso, Ike
Martinez, Richard Cachora, Kyle Cachora, Ryan Cachora, Derrick Jose, Brendan Jose,
Morales Escalanti, Chano Escalanti.
Funeral services will take place at Yuma Mortuary Thursday May 8 th 2:00pm- 4:30pm,
with tribal ceremonial rites to follow at Quechan Big House.
Cremation will be held at Quechan Cemetery on Friday at 5 a.m.
