Maria Consuelo Gomez- Urquijo

Maria Consuelo Gomez-Urquijo

Born on February 27, 1943, in Oputo (Villa Hidalgo), Sonora, Mexico to Carmen Urquijo and Socorro Urquijo. She was welcomed into Heaven’s Gates on May 22, 2025.

Maria spent most of her youth in the northern region of Sonora, Mexico. At the young age of 18, she moved to Arizona, where she acclimated all things “American” and became a legalized citizen. She later moved to Los Angeles, California, where she married and started her family.

Maria is survived by her children: Esteban Gomez (Carmen), Lourdes Monica Jaime (Martin), Irene Barriga (Nelson), Antonio “Tony” Gomez (Diana), and Andres “Andy” Gomez (Betty). Along with her grandchildren: Samantha Brunswick, Esteban “Michael” Gomez, Brittany Justine Jaime, Chelsea Barriga-Johnson, Christopher Jaime, Victoria Gomez†, David Gomez, Nelson Barriga, Alyssa Gomez, and Andresito Gomez. And her great-grandchildren, whom she absolutely adored: Sihlas, Kenzie, Eleanor, and Florence.

Her extended family includes her sister, longtime friends, and a cherished group of nieces and nephews who each held a special place in her heart, most especially her Godson, Ricardo “Ricky” Urquijo.

A mass and memorial service in her honor (wearing purple) will be held on Monday, September 15, 2025 at 10:00 AM, followed by a Celebration of Life gathering at the St. John Neumann Roman Catholic Church Parish Hall.
