Omar Antonio Franco Jr., 33, passed away on April 15, 2023 in the Yuma Regional Medical Center. He was born in Yuma on February 16, 1990 to Hortensia Garcia and Omar Franco Sr.
Omar, the “Crab Lord”, was in the Yuma High School Class of 2008 and continued his education at AWC towards a welding career. He worked at the Marine Corps Exchange MCAS for over 12 years as a cashier. Omar was widely known for his love of cooking, artistry, fishing, and music. Omar was a member of “Scumbags” where he freely expressed himself and his admiration for the music scene.
Omar lived life to the fullest. He wore his heart on his sleeve despite his intimidating appearance. He will always be remembered as a big teddy bear.
He is survived by his mother (Hortensia Garcia), step-father (Armando Garcia), siblings (Isaac Sanchez, Jessica Franco, Jesus Garcia and Genoveva Pantoja). His legacy will continue with his two children, Edan (14 years old) and Alyssa (12 years old). Omar will be deeply missed by his grandparents, aunts, uncles and many cousins. Omar had a vast network of family and friends. He touched many lives and was greatly loved.
Omar’s funeral services will take place at the Yuma Mortuary and Crematorium on Saturday, April 22, 2023 from 5-8pm.
