Robert “Bobby” Baker, a proud veteran, devoted friend, and lifelong patriot, passed away on March 12, 2025, at the age of 87. Born on February 26, 1938, in Yuma, Arizona, Bobby was the beloved son of Mary Sanchez Baker and Edward Lucero Baker. He was preceded in death by his parents and his cherished wife, Lupe Peralta Baker.
A graduate of Yuma High School’s Class of 1956, Bobby was known for his kindness, loyalty, and deep love for his country. He honorably served two tours in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Hornet (CVA-12), dedicating himself to military service and upholding the values of patriotism and duty.
Bobby was a Fourth-Degree Knight of Columbus in the Catholic Church, exemplifying the principles of charity, unity, fraternity, and patriotism. His faith was an important part of his life, guiding him in his commitment to helping others.
He was also an avid Dallas Cowboys fan, never missing a chance to cheer on his team. In his later years, Bobby worked at NAPA Auto Parts in Yuma, Wellton, and Somerton, where he enjoyed serving the community and sharing his knowledge with customers and friends.
He leaves behind a legacy of friendship and love, survived by many cousins, including Dolores Martinez, Susan Schflitt, and Irene Quiroz, along with numerous dear friends and all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Bobby’s warmth, generosity, and unwavering spirit will be dearly missed. His memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
Funeral services will be held in his honor, with details to be announced at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the St. Vincent de Paul Society of Immaculate Conception Church and St. Francis of Assisi Parish in Yuma, AZ, in Bobby’s memory.
