Robert “Chris” Johnson
May 30, 1947 – October 27, 2025
Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Robert Chris Johnson, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, October 27, 2025. He was born on May 30, 1947, in Brigham City, Utah, to Ariel and Gladys Cross Johnson.
Chris lived a full and meaningful life, marked by love, service, and quiet strength. He proudly served many years as a Civil Servant, dedicating his career to the Billeting Fund at MCAS Yuma. After retiring, he spent his days where he was happiest—at home, enjoying life’s simple pleasures alongside his beloved wife, Ruby, who preceded him in death on October 25, 2022.
Dad had many passions that reflected his curious and gentle nature. He loved collecting coins, watching YouTube videos, and learning to fly his drone. He was a skilled genealogist who spent countless hours tracing family lines and preserving his heritage. One of his greatest joys was serving in the temple, and he was deeply honored to serve as a Temple Ordinance Worker at the San Diego Temple from 2021 to 2022.
On September 17, 1971, Chris married the love of his life, Ruby Burns Taylor, in the Mesa Arizona Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Together, they built a beautiful life rooted in faith and love, raising six children—Jarod, Stephanie, Eric, Jennifer, Roberta, and Mark. Their family grew to include 14 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren, all of whom were the light of his life.
Chris’s faith was at the center of everything he did. As a young man, he served a full-time mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Southwest Indian Mission. He remained a devoted disciple throughout his life—raising his children in the gospel, leading by example, and teaching through quiet acts of love and service. His strength, compassion, and unwavering testimony of the Savior touched everyone who knew him.
To his family, he was more than a father—he was our teacher, our protector, and our constant source of calm and love. His gentle humor, kind eyes, and patient heart will forever be missed, but the legacy of love and faith he built will live on in each of us.
A viewing will be held on Thursday, November 6, 2025 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints Stake Center at 2pm and a chapel service to follow at 4:00pm. Traditional Tribal Services will follow on Saturday, November 8, 2025, from 12:00pm to 5:00 p.m., with cremation to take place at 5:00 p.m. at the Quechan Tribal Cemetery.
Until we meet again, we take comfort in knowing that Dad has returned home to his Heavenly Father and been joyfully reunited with the love of his life, Ruby.
We love you, Dad—forever and always
