Roger Trotter Obituary

Roger Dean Trotter, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on April 12, 2025, at the age of 87. Born on March 28th, in Webster City, Iowa, to G. Dale Trotter and Hazel Gladys Walker, Roger was the youngest of five siblings. Roger's natural charisma and warmth made him a cherished figure wherever he went. Known for his love of music and dancing, he also excelled as an athlete in football and wrestling during his youth. His talent earned him a scholarship to Iowa University, though he eventually transferred to Adams State Teachers College in Colorado, where he met his first wife, Pamela, and began his lifelong commitment to education and athletics. Together, they raised two daughters, Tammi Trotter and Bonnie (Trotter) Grate.

Roger's passion for sports led him to a fulfilling career in physical education and administration, holding positions as a teacher, dean of education, athletic director, coach, and principal. His dedication touched countless lives across Kansas and Arizona, with notable contributions in Window Rock, Casa Grande, and Sierra Vista, Arizona.  In Casa Grande, Roger met Sylvia Quintero, his second wife and soulmate. Together, they enjoyed over 35 years of happiness, sharing their love of golf, gardening, and spending quality time with family and friends.

Roger was preceded in death by his sisters, Roma Lu and Bonnie Lee, and brother, David. He is survived by his devoted wife, Sylvia; daughters, Tammi and Bonnie; grandchildren, James, Kevin, and Marvin; and his brother, Harold Dale. His legacy of story telling, dedication, and love lives on through them.  A celebration of life to honor Roger will be held at a later date. His family asks that those who knew him remember the joy he brought to so many, and the way he truly lived life to the fullest. Roger Dean Trotter will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
