In Loving Memory of Sallie Faloon
February 5, 1932 –July 31, 2025
Sallie Faloon, beloved educator, collector, and friend, passed away peacefully on July 31, 2025, at the age of 93.
Born on February 5, 1932, Sallie lived a rich and purpose-filled life. Sallie began her professional life working with the police department in Fort Lauderdale, Florida while attending night school. Sallie graduated with a masters degree from Florida State University, where she discovered her lifelong love of literature, learning, and leadership..
She spent the majority of her career in public education, beginning as a high school English teacher and ultimately becoming the Principal of Fort Lauderdale High School. Sallie was known for her fairness, intelligence, and dedication to her students and staff. Her leadership left a lasting impression on generations of young people and fellow educators.
After retiring to Arizona, Sallie embraced a new chapter—turning her love of history and nostalgia into a second career in antiques. She specialized in collecting coins and vintage toys, and ran the charming and eclectic Packrats Den alongside her dear friend and partner, Karen Hill. The store quickly became a local treasure, known as much for its rare finds as for Sallie’s sharp wit and presence.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Sallie’s name may be made to the Humane Society of Yuma or Homeward Bound—two causes close to her heart.
