Santiago “Jimmy” Yanez Carlos passed away peacefully on August 18, 2023, in Yuma, AZ, at the age of 76 surrounded by family. Jimmy was born in Buckeye, AZ, on November 26, 1946, to Augustin and Josefina Carlos.
Jimmy is preceded in death by his parents, brother Frank, Sister Dora, and brother-in-law Jack Mondragon
Jimmy is survived by his loving wife of 55 years Victoria, sons Vicente, Santiago, Martin, and Anthony, siblings Margie (Martin) Calzada, Adelina C. Lujan, Alice (Robert) Arriola, Manuel Carlos, and 6 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
Jimmy was loved by everyone and enjoyed dancing, listening to music, hunting, fishing, ice cold beers, and barbequing his famous “compa Jimmy chicken”.
Jimmy began his career working for the City of Yuma in 1969 and retired after 36 years in 2005. He graduated from Yuma High School.
Memorial services will be held on Friday, September 8, 2023, from 5-9 p.m. at Yuma Mortuary, 775 S. 5th Ave. Yuma, AZ. Rosary to begin at 7 p.m.
Mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, September 9, 2023, at Immaculate Conception Church, 505 S. Ave. B, Yuma, AZ, followed by a celebration of life potluck at Whiskey Road Saloon, 3780 S. 4th Ave. Yuma, AZ, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Pallbearers will be sons Vicente, Santiago, Martin, Anthony, grandson Anthony C. Carlos, and life-long friend Samuel C. Alvarado.
